Guy Emerich, former president and managing
director of the firm, is Board Certified by The Florida Bar
in Wills, Trusts and Estates Law, and also practices in real
property law. In addition to a Bachelor of Arts degree and
a Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from the University of
Florida, he holds a Master of Laws degree in estate planning
from the University of Miami.
Before joining the firm in 1971, Mr. Emerich served as an
editor of the University of Florida Law Review and as an
assistant professor of law. He is a member of the American
Bar Association and The Charlotte County Bar Association,
for which he has served as president. Mr. Emerich is former Chairman of the Estate and Trust Tax Planning Committee
of the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Section of the Florida
Bar as well as the Co-vice Chairman of the Mentoring
Committee of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law
Section of the Florida Bar. For the past three years, Mr.
Emerich was named one of Florida's Legal Elite -- a
distinguished group selected by one's peers, honoring only
two percent of the state's lawyers. He has also been
selected to "Super Lawyers" and for selection in Best
Lawyers in America for 2008. He is also a fellow of
the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC).
In addition to Florida state courts, he is admitted to practice
before the U.S. Supreme Court; the U.S. District Court, Middle
District of Florida; the U.S. Court of Claims, and the U.S.
Tax Court. Mr. Emerich is active in the Charlotte County
Estate Planning Council and frequently conducts lectures
and seminars on estate planning. He is past president of
Charlotte County Mental Health Services and currently serves
as a Director of Endowment Trust for the Charlotte County
Art Guild. In addition, Mr. Emerich is Director of the Southwest
Florida Community Foundation.
